Metamorphosis, Part II

That night, the little grey fairy adventured deep into Dream. In Dream, she awoke to find herself far away from the rose’s soft petals and sugar laced lullabies she’d only just been wrapped by. 

“Where am I?” The grey fairy wondered as she opened her eyes. “And where is my rose?” She wondered as her eyes searched the pitch-black air.

Wrapped instead in the cloaks of darkness, fairy looked up, unable to see any stars or moon. 

“Uh.. oh, how did I get here…?” Fairy wondered as she rose to her feet, feeling the wet cold mud-earth squish between her toes.

“You are in the Enchanted Forrest deep inside your dream-scape.” A loud voice bellowed through fairy. “This is your Enchanted Forrest.” The voice spoke once more.

Fairies whole body shook at the sound of the voice. Unable to place where it had come from, fairies' feet turned in place through the mud.

My Enchanted Forrest? Fairy wondered as she turned. She longed to see something beside the black air, yet no light met her eyes.

This sweater is inspired by the Enchanted Forest the little grey-fairy wakes up in as she adventures into Dream. It evokes the green of the tree's leaves, the purple of the singing birds, and the red of the dragon who dwells inside. Though fairy cannot see them yet, they are nonetheless there. I knit this piece entirely at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, New York, mostly sitting barefoot by the creek or inside of the Ram Dass library.

And so Your Enchanted Forrest, a one-of-one handmade dream-jewel, was born from the earth and dreamscape.
